With her trophy cabinet is growing at a rate of knots, Adele was simply too busy to collect the top award of the night at London’s Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday.
The 28-year-old performer continued an impressive reign with the Songwriter of the Year accolade – won for a second time – leading the winners with the special prize voted for by a panel of judges.
She made the news in April when she was snubbed for any awards voted for by her peers, but it’s little surprise that the biggest-seller of 2015 singer has still ended up scooping a gong.

Winner, winner: Adele won the Songwriter of the Year award for a second time on Thursday at London’s Ivor Novello Awards 2016
Though she couldn’t attend the London ceremony, Adele sent a video message from Germany, where she is on tour.
She said, ‘I won on my last album as well so to win on this one is a dream. I was secretly pregnant then so I couldn’t enjoy the night as well. But cheers, bottoms up, enjoy.’
Adele holds the PRS for Music Most Performed Work, which she won in 2012 for Rolling In The Deep, and she also won Songwriter of the Year in 2012.

In his acceptance, Bay told the crowd on Thursday: ‘I definitely didn’t expect this. I don’t pay attention to the numbers.’

Glynne put on the kookiest display of all with a Jamaican inspired shirt and trouser set, which she teamed with a French beret.
